Audience Member A very good documentary. There is a lot of fun in it, but not without poignant moments. Dancing can put you more in touch with life. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a rewarding film/documentary about the joy (and history) of dancing swing. Personal accounts mixed with nostalgic film clips and dancing at every corner made this one a winner for me. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member SUCH a fun, rewarding film!! A really thoughtful balance between the joy of swing dancing and the realities of life, love and commitment. A real gem. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Moira MacDonald Seattle Times Though it adheres to documentary convention by picking out a few competitive swing dancers and following them throughout the film, "Alive and Kicking" keeps dancing off into other areas, and we just hold its hand and follow. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 12, 2017 Full Review Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times Glatzer captures the love and support of an intergenerational community, one in which nonagenarians cut the rug alongside up-and-comers. Apr 6, 2017 Full Review Christopher Kompanek Washington Post Glatzer captures the visceral charge of moving wildly in tandem with another person, often in improvised bouts that forge strong bonds between partners, if only for a few minutes. Rated: 3/4 Apr 6, 2017 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net It is fast and exciting and I could watch it all day! Rated: B- Mar 12, 2019 Full Review Robert Roten Laramie Movie Scope This is a very life-affirming movie with joyous dance performances with a lot of amazing acrobatic moves. It is not only a lot of fun to watch, but a good antidote for these dark, depressing times in the world. Rated: B+ Dec 22, 2017 Full Review Harvey S. Karten Shockya.com Full of life, this swinging doc shows the fervor attending a throwback to the 1920s, dancers who enthusiastically go back in time to give new spirit to the Lindy Hop.
