      Critics Consensus

Relentlessly grim and gripping, Romper Stomper is a disquietingly authentic glimpse into the inner dynamics of a hate group, featuring an electric performance by Russell Crowe.

Anne slaug H Painfully realistic for a european, excactly the same situation down under. Only difference: Europeans blames everything on pakistani or turks or anyone else who are not excactly like themselves. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/23 Full Review Sean D One of the best indie films of all time! I think this film struck gold with its cast, who really brought the film to life. But obviously it's it's lead Russell Crowe who shines the most. I read that apparently he was repeatedly advised by his agent not to take the part , but refused and took a risk . And you can really see why he shot to super stardom afterwards Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/21/22 Full Review Audience Member do we need another racist film? the worst of his films! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review colin m Some romping. Some stomping. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review s r 1001 movies to see before you die. I can see why this was chosen, but I don't need to see it again. It was a harsh look at skinheads in Australia and when the immigrants push back. I guess there was a moral that anarchy does not lead anywhere. It was on Amazon. David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) In these volatile times, with racism on the march again all over the world, this is a dangerous film. Jun 9, 2008 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine It is the authenticity, without exaggeration or hyperbole, that makes Romper Stomper so terrifying to watch. Rated: 8/10 May 23, 2021 Full Review PJ Nabarro Patrick Nabarro One can see why Crowe's star sky-rocketed from this point on: his performance is intense and compelling, revealing a genuine, steely-eyed menace. Rated: 3/5 Jan 29, 2019 Full Review Margaret Pomeranz At the Movies (Australia) This is in no way a pleasant film experience. It is relentlessly psychologically violent, almost nauseatingly so on occasion. However it is one of the finest films to be made in this country in recent years.
