Jonathan K Multiple interpretations allowed here... is it metaphor or allegory without any actual supernatural components at all? Is it superpower? Somewhere in the middle? A gorgeously shot and captivating film. An interesting tale of becoming. Very well acted by the lead, Eili Harboe. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Dani G Very interesting and ---until near the end--- unexpectedly dark drama Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Diana S Plot has some holes, but quite gripping through to the end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review PridePosterStudios Sapphic powers, activate! *screams in frozen baby* Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Ray J Yet another superb addition to this already stellar directors growing catalogue of must see movies. As an America I hear so many people complain that "there's nothing new or different" being done in cinema. That it's all just recycled reboots, sequels, and comic book popcorn flicks. I've always made the argument that they just need to do the research and find the good stuff and that it's still out there. Just like music in my opinion has never had what I would call masterpieces in the top 10 songs of the year, movies are the same. I'll always point to Joachim Triers movies if you want something special. Every movie is just flat out perfection and it's nice to see him explore different genres, especially with this one. Maybe because it's fresh in my mind but "The Worst Person in the World" is my favorite I think. I watched that one yesterday and this one today. It just stayed with me long after it was over with it's message and really gave me a lot to think about in regards to my own life. Bravo! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I gave the movie one star for the opening scene, which made it look interesting, but after that it was all downhill. Bored to tears as it dragged on aimlessly. Watching grass grow would be more entertaining. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kambole Campbell One Room With A View Thelma is visually and sonically impressive, with images that linger in the mind long after the film has ended, but a superfluous narrative detour strips the film of any uniqueness. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Peter Keough Boston Globe The scary moments are there, but they take patience. And then they take you by surprise. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 18, 2018 Full Review Barbara VanDenburgh Arizona Republic "Thelma" treads the line between the psychological and supernatural, gracefully at first, and then with increasing abandon. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 7, 2017 Full Review Brian T. Carney Washington Blade A gripping Norwegian drama that is both irresistible and rather hard to describe. Dec 15, 2022 Full Review Sara Clements them. Joachim Trier’s Norwegian supernatural thriller Thelma gives us a new kind of queer superhero. Oct 27, 2022 Full Review Michael Cuby them. Thelma effectively utilizes horror tropes to say something profound about the trauma of repressing one’s queer desire and the healing freedom that can come after you finally stop and learn to love and embrace the person you are.
