F. Ernest Jackson ARA, Portrait of Henry Festing Jones

Portrait of Henry Festing Jones

F. Ernest Jackson ARA (1872 - 1945)

RA Collection: Art

This portrait of Henry Festing Jones (1851-1928) was reproduced in Vogue magazine on 17 March 1921. Jackson made several studies for this print and the differences between the preparatory drawings and the finished print indicate that he adapted the portrait to fit the medium. J.G. P. Delaney points out that Jackson darkened 'the background to bring out the delivate and masterly drawing of the face'.
