Former Aer Lingus chief executive Michael Foley says a long-standing dispute with the airline has been resolved.

Mr Foley was sacked from Aer Lingus in June 2001 for alleged sexual harassment. The allegations were made by two female employees, but Mr Foley always denied them.

'A very satisfactory solution has been reached in this matter which allows himself and his family to move forward from what has been a very difficult chapter in their lives,' a statement released on his behalf said this afternoon. It is believed the deal ends all court proceedings.

Michael Foley was on a package of more than IR£200,000 a year when his contract was terminated, and under his contract he was entitled to be paid the full two-year term if he was dismissed. It is believed that he received about IR£350,000.

Aer Lingus said it was 'very pleased' that the dispute had been resolved and wished him every success for the future.
