circus tulip collection

An absolute menagerie of the exotic and way out there – frilly parrots, striped yellows, reds, purples and whites – it’s the tulip circus which I ADORE! Some of you will hate this, but others will fall on its crazy optimistic cheer. Don’t hold back!

‘Amazing Parrot’

This lives up to its name, a raucous jungle bird that flowers long and late and calls out to you from one end of the garden to the other

‘Flower Power’

Like an orange flamingo, this shot to top-of-the-pops with us last spring; huge heads, with beautiful feathering and stipples. It’s a new member of the Parrot clan and one to be watched

‘Ballerina’

A beautiful orange tulip with a sweet scent – an absolute must in my garden. It’s fantastic planted with dark wallflowers

easy wow collection

The perfect collection of tulips for the brilliant-coloured garden; zingy, cheerful and long-flowering, with lovely fragrance from ‘Ballerina’ and ‘Request’ combined here with Wallflower ‘Ruby Gem’

palace tulip collection

Like Beefeaters and Grenadier Guards, the sort of tulips I imagine Captain Sir Tom Moore would have loved, lined up on parade with class, gloss and brilliance

‘Doll’s Minuet’

One of the most magnificent and long-flowering tulips we grow, in deep magenta-pink with flashes of green and purple on each petal’s outer side

‘Salmon Prince’

The first tulip to flower with us last March, a good month before most mid-season varieties. It opens pink and fades to a gentle apricot

‘Istanbul’

Like an Islamic painted tulip, this has elegant scale and shape, it stood out and rather looked down on all around it in our trial last year. It won me over!

This colour range is such a departure for me from the smoky sultry dark palette I’ve loved so long, but when these came out in March last spring, with huge goblet flowers on tall stems, they felt like a celebration of life and crikey, do we need that!

‘Green King’

I absolutely love this tulip, pure green and magnificent for late flowering. Honestly it’s twice as long in its flowering than any other, often into June!

Tulip 'Green Mile'

‘Green Mile’

A pretty and perky yellow tulip, made classy by its flashes of green. Delicate, fine fringing to the petal edge and as a viridiflora, super long-lasting in the garden and vase
