Obscenely Rich Tech

Brian Greene is not rich, but he’s rounded up the best gadgets for all you obscenely wealthy geeks.

Jet Pack T-73
What’s that in the sky? It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s... the billionaire next door? Why take the helicopter when you can fly yourself to the next board meeting? Thanks to Jet Pack International, you can be the next Rocket Man. Weighing in at under 100 pounds, and made of carbon fiber and aluminum alloys, the T-73 is a multi-flight, rocket propelled jetpack that allows you to literally fly for nine minutes at 83 miles an hour and up to 250 feet high. The average flier can travel around 11 miles, so the distance from your Peak mansion to your Central corner office will be easily covered. Don’t worry about training; the steep price tag includes lessons at the company’s compound in Colorado. This is some serious James Bond stuff—Sean Connery, not Roger Moore.
Recommended price: $1.6 million

Wisdom Infinite Grande Speaker System
These are not your typical iPod speaker. They’re not even your very-good Bang & Olufsen sound system. The Infinite Grande is for those true audiophiles with a bottomless bank account, and this is the pinnacle bar none. It was engineered to fill the most opulent of homes and palaces with the clearest sound ever made. Standing at 13 feet tall and weighing 3,800 pounds, the system is huge and loud, reaching 120Db without breaking a sweat. At that level, most HiFi setups become screechingly distorted, whereas the Grande still thumps clean and clear melodies making it possible to listen at realistic levels. This is the closest you will ever be to having Bob Marley or Jimi Hendrix play in your foyer.

Panasonic 150-inch Plasma Life Screen
At 11 feet wide, Panasonic’s HD behemoth is the size of nine 50-inch plasmas. But wait, at that size wouldn’t the image be blurry and stretched? Think again. It has a 2,000-by-4,000 pixel resolution (8.84 million pixels), which is more than four times the standard 1080p that most HD screens have. Good luck finding a way to get it into your building’s elevator.
