Despite Cooper and Shayk’s history of keeping their romance private over the years, rumours of reconciliation began to swirl once again after they were spotted on numerous occasions – most recently at the premiere of his new psychological thriller film, Nightmare Alley.
So are the famous exes really back in each other’s arms?
It all started in 2015
Both coming off the back of previous high-profile relationships, Cooper and Shayk first sparked romance rumours in April 2015 when they were spotted at a Broadway production of Finding Neverland in New York.
The new item took their relationship public with a PDA-packed trip to London a month later, but they only made their red carpet debut in March 2016 at a Paris Fashion Week party.

A baby on the way and an emerald ring on her finger
Cooper and Shayk kept their romance pretty much private until the Russian model unveiled a baby bump at the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November 2016.
Months before welcoming their daughter Lea De Seine in March 2017, Shayk was also seen wearing a gorgeous emerald ring – although neither of them ever confirmed an engagement.
A Hollywood ship is born
But things took a turn south for the couple in 2019 when the press for Cooper’s Oscar-winning film A Star Is Born reached an all-time high. Fans could not help but root for Cooper and his co-star Lady Gaga to be together in real life – especially after their steamy duet of Shallow at the Academy Awards.
The two actors denied any romantic involvement and explained that they were basically just putting on an Oscar-worthy performance.

The break-up
Still, Cooper and Shayk ended up in splitsville in June 2019. Since going their separate ways, the pair have turned their focus to their daughter and developed a friendship as co-parents.
In 2020, Shayk opened up about her relationship with Cooper to British Vogue. “I think in all good relationships, you bring your best and your worst – it’s just the nature of a human being,” Shayk shared. “Two great people don’t have to make a good couple. I think we’ve been very lucky to experience what we had with each other.”
A new power couple?
Though their famous ex-partners Cooper and Kim Kardashian had reportedly been supportive of the union, Shayk and West were apparently only an item for a short period of time, with split rumours circulating from August.

So two and a half years after their break-up, and with competing potential partners out the way, could these friendly exes and co-parents be back together for good?
During the premiere of Nightmare Alley in New York, Cooper told Entertainment Tonight that it was “very special” to have Shayk accompany him. The two, however, smartly walked the red carpet separately and skipped any headline-sparking photos.
One source told HollywoodLife that the love between them is “nothing more than platonic”. But then another reliable insider revealed that they are “planning on celebrating Christmas together so they can be together as a family with their daughter”.
Perhaps fans and followers can still cross their fingers and hope for a Christmas miracle?
