    Symptom

    • When simulating revaluation with T-code ABAW (ECC environment) or ABAWL (S4HANA
    environment), there is no line item displayed.
    • Same system behaviour can be observed in other AA transactions that do not post directly to GL (i.e.
    ABAA / ABAAL - unplanned depreciation)

    Reproducing the Issue

    Background setting for the sample below:

    • Depreciation area 01 posts in real-time (T-code: OADB G/L indicator 1 - "Area Posts in Realtime");
    • The revaluation posting is posted to area 01.

    Steps to recreate the issue:

    1. Execute T-code ABAW, fill in necessary parameters and click on simulate button;
    2. Unlike simulation of acquisition or retirement etc., there is no line item displayed in the simulated
    document;

    3. Click save button, a message is displayed saying an AA document is created;

    4. Go to T-code AW01N, double click on the revaluation transaction, error A3004 is displayed saying no
    document can be checked.

    Cause

    This comes from standard system design. In T-code ABAW/ABAWL, only an AA document is created, it does
    not create an FI document immediately. The revaluation amount will be posted to GL when you execute
    depreciation posting (T-code AFAB), with proper setting for revaluation posting (for example in T-code OAYR,
    the flag "post revaluation" should be ON). The behavior is same both in ECC system and S4HANA system.

    The system works similarily in other AA transactions that do not post directly to GL, for example
    unplanned depreciation (T-code ABAA).

    Resolution

    Please execute depreciation posting (T-code AFAB) in test mode. In the simulated document, you will see the
    revaluation amount is considered and will be posted to GL, together with other depreciation value. If the
    values is OK, you can run depreciation posting in update mode to generate a real FI document.
