Natural History: The Christmas Wrasse is found in lagoons and reef slopes where sand and rich coral populations are present. This species burrows in sand for protection at night and when threatened. This wrasse species exhibits initial and terminal phase coloration.
Husbandry: The Christmas Wrasse may attack ornamental shrimp or other crustaceans. It will bury itself to sleep at night. This species of wrasse is more peaceful than most wrasses and should only be housed with unaggressive tankmates. Terminal phase males should not be housed with other male wrasses, especially terminal phase males.
