      Japanese Green Tea

      SerendipiTea's certified organic Ceremonial Matcha is Japanese shade-grown tencha (green tea) made from Ichibancha (first harvest) leaves that are milled to a super fine powder. Perfect for formal tea ceremonies & serious matcha lovers.

      Delight in the vibrant, jade green color & enjoy the mild sweetness of this special cha. Astringency from the catechins perfectly balances the sweetness from the L-theanine amino acids ultimately delivering a smooth, creamy texture when whisked to a delicate froth in one's preferred bowl. 

      Store in air-tight container (or our zip-lock bag) away from light, heat & moisture at around 60˚.  Refrigeration is recommended.

      In keeping with our GREEN mission, the packing of our organic ceremonial grade Matcha into resealable opaque bags is done at the tea garden/factory we work with in Japan.

      Steeping Instructions

      1. Fill kettle with fresh water, then heat.

      2. Warm tea cup or bowl with a little hot water, discard. Pour matcha through a fine-mesh sifter into the cup or bowl (2 grams or 1/2 teaspoon per cup), loosening any clumps. For a thicker cup, increase amount of matcha up to one teaspoon. 

      3. Pour about 2 ounces of water (fill 1/3 cup of cup or bowl) that is approximately 175˚ (cooler than boiling) over the tea powder.

      4. Whisk rapidly in an M or W formation (as if beating eggs) to make a frothy broth.

      5. Add about 4-6 more ounces of the heated water.

      6. Enjoy!

      Transfer contents of box to an air-tight,opaque ceramic or tin kept away from heat and moisture.

      All retail packaging components are manufactured in the USA. The box is made from post-consumer-recycled Kraft; the sealed inner bag is sustainably sourced compostable plant-derived material (Nature Flex), labels are made from recycled content with water-soluble inks. All handling, blending, packing is done by hand on-site at SerendipiTea.
