Salarias fasciatus
Very popular with reef Aquarists, the Sailfin Blenny is one of the better Algae eating fish as juveniles and cab be used for the control of Filamentous Algae. Although this fish will get along with most any fish as juveniles, it will not get along with other Sailfin Blenny, Blennies of the same body type. May become belligerent as an adult and prone to attacking tangs, angels and other large fish when fully grown and will cease to eat algae as adults. Sailfin blennies can be prone to picking at clam mantles or corals as adults. |
Maximum Size: the Salarias fasciatus grows up to 5 inches. Minimum Tank Size: The Lawnmower Blenny prefers a tank of at least 30 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Salarias fasciatus is a herbivore and likes to eat veggies, herbivore, mysis shrimp.. Level of Care: The Lawnmower Blenny is a medium maintenance fish. Behavior: The Lawnmower Blenny may act peaceful (but may become territorial)ly toward other fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F). Range: Indo-Pacific: Red Sea and East Africa to Samoa, and south to Australia. |
