Former Hoosier Bracey Wright Joining Golden State Warriors G-League Staff

Bracey Wright is joining the Santa Cruz Warriors — the Golden State Warriors' G-League affiliate — as an assistant and player development coach. Wright played basketball at Indiana from 2002-05 under coach Mike Davis.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Golden State Warriors are doing their best to be the official NBA representatives of the Indiana Hoosiers.

On Friday, the Santa Cruz Warriors (the G-League affiliate of Golden State) announced their coaching staff for the 2023-24 season. Included in that staff is former Indiana men's basketball player Bracey Wright, who will be an assistant coach and handle player development for Santa Cruz.

Prior to this, the Golden State Warriors already hired two other former Hoosiers in Will Sheehey and Seth Cooper, and of course, they drafted Trayce Jackson-Davis with the 57th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. 

Wright played at Indiana under coach Mike Davis from 2002-05. The 6-foot-3 guard started in all 85 games he played at IU over three years, and averaged 17.6 points per game. For his efforts, Wright was named to the 2004-05 first team All-Big Ten by the media, and was selected with the 47th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. 

The Indiana product would play only two seasons for the T-Wolves that were not incredibly successful. However, Wright did go on to have a long and successful international playing career from 2007-2019. In 2015, he was named the Israeli Super League Finals MVP while playing for Hapoel Jerusalem. 

Wright and the Santa Cruz Warriors kick off their 2023-24 G-League season on Nov. 10, when they play the Stockton Kings at Kaiser Permanente Arena. Should Jackson-Davis ever need to spend time at the G-League level during his rookie campaign in the NBA, there will always be another Hoosier in Wright nearby to keep him company.
