NEW YORK (AP) Minnesota Vikings cornerback Jabari Price has been suspended by the NFL for the first two games of the 2015 regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Price has begun his second year in the league. He appeared in 14 games as a rookie in 2014 for Minnesota, playing primarily on special teams after being drafted in the seventh round of North Carolina. Price can participate in all preseason activities, and after missing the two games, he will be eligible to return to Minnesota's active roster Sept. 21.

Price was arrested early Dec. 29 on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving, a few hours after the Vikings played their last game. He pleaded guilty April 10 to a reduced charge of careless driving, for 30 days of electronic home monitoring, entrance into a substance abuse education program and a $300 fine.

''I sincerely apologize to my family, my teammates, the Vikings organization and Vikings fans for the mistake I made last winter,'' Price said in a statement distributed Friday by the NFL Players Association. ''I can assure you that it will never happen again. I look forward to returning to helping my team on the field in Week 3.''
