« I understand lettering as a central pillar of communication and an essential everyday information carrier. However, in daily life letters are often perceived superficially and as purely functional. »
Pietsch’s interest in art was piqued during regular train rides to France in the 1980s - he noticed graffiti alongside the tracks and began developing his own lettering shortly thereafter. Boasting a 30 year career and star street-art status, he creates bold pieces that invite us to thoughtfully scrutinise letters, composition and our own first impressions.
