  5. Dual RILIS Operation 2012 • RILIS = ResonanceIonization Laser Ion Source • Upgraded in 2011 with solid-state Ti:Sa laser system • Dual dye and Ti:Sa setup allowed for a record time of >2700h RILIS ionized beam for ISOLDE users in 2012 • Narrow band-width Ti:sapphire (NB-Ti:Sa) laser for in-source laser spectroscopy and isomer separation • established data communication between RILIS and ISOLDE experiments • Applied for laser spectroscopy of Au isotopes Hochtechnologie für die Grundlagenforschung

  6. High-selective ion-beam production with Laser Ion Source & Trap (LIST) • 1. ISOLDE Target: • Production of exotic nuclei • 2. RILIS: • Element selective ionization • 3. 8. WITCH: Weak Interaction Trap forChargedParticles V S Standardmodell der Teilchenphysik Combination of Penning traps with MAC-E filter: • Production of a scattering free source • Measurement of recoil energy distribution after b-decay • b-n angular correlation a • Test of standard model complementary to high energy physics Best test case for WITCH 35Ar 9

  9. WITCH Online Runs 2011/2012 • First data sets with 35Ar taken 2011 • Found several imperfections of the WITCH system and worked on it • Took data in 2012 with statistics for a precision of a few % precision for a of 35Ar • Still had hints for ionization in the system • Data analysis and further offline tests will reveal systematic effects Standardmodell der Teilchenphysik 10

  10. 82Zn forNuclearStructure and Astrophysics • High-precisionPenning-trap massspectrometrywith ISOLTRAP • Helps to pin down nuclear models to study the behavior of nuclei at the extremes of stability B Kerne und Sterne • Its determination is important for modelling of the crust of neutron stars R. N. Wolf et al., PRL, submitted (2012)

  12. Shell stabilization in N=80 isotones? Systematics of B(E2) values in N=80 isotones: • Post-accelerated beam from REX-ISOLDE • Method: Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics at the MINIBALL setup • MINIBALL array of 8 3-fold segmented high-purity Germanium clusters • Particle identification via double-sided Si detectors Die Landkarte der Nuklide View at the opened target chamber: • measured B(E2;2+0+) valuesof 140Nd and 142Sm • Trend of increasing B(E2) continuous beyond Z=58 within errors • Observation of local suppression in collectivity at Z=58 • New data provide evidence for “shell stabilization” mechanism introduced in PRL 96, 122501 (2006).
