A bouillon (the city's first!) awaits you a stone's throw from the Château de Versailles: Le Petit Bouillon Versailles! We're off to discover it, and reveal what's in store for you in terms of decor and menu.

Here's some good news for dining out in Versailles without breaking the bank: the opening of a real bouillon, the city's first, a stone's throw from the Château de Versailles. Head to Le Petit Bouillon Versailles, as it's called, for real French cuisine at a very low price!

With its logo reminiscent of that of Petit Bouillon Vavin (and for good reason, it's its big brother), Petit Bouillon Versailles reveals a décor reminiscent of the brasseries of yesteryear. Red leather banquettes, crystal chandeliers, large mirrors and bistro-style tables combine with a wall-mounted bookcase and copper pans for decoration.

The restaurant, located in a side alley to the immediate right of the entrance to the Château de Versailles, offers a lovely view of the most royal of the Ile-de-France castles, which is not lost on gourmets who have the opportunity to please both their taste buds and their pupils.

Open non-stop from midday to midnight, indoors or on the terrace, the Petit Bouillon Versailles à la carte menu features the greatest French classics at affordable prices: egg mayonnaise, poultry bouchées à la reine with truffle and mushroom sauce, the unmissable boeuf bourguignon? And for dessert, sweet tooths can enjoy tarte tatin, baba au rhum or tarte bourdaloue aux poires.

On the table, you'll discover the à la carte menu. The menu is simple and varied:

Starters start at €2.20, main courses at €8.90 and desserts at €2.70! It's the perfect way to enjoy a starter+main course+dessert for under €20. Yet the restaurant doesn't cut corners on quality, sourcing as much local produce as possible! As with bouillons in general, which offer a popular and accessible cuisine, don't expect beautiful, well-dressed plates. At Petit Bouillon Versailles, we're all about good food, essentially homemade, from starter to dessert.

For our part, we let ourselves be tempted by the famous escargots au beurre persillé, the chef's "homemade" terrine and the herring on warm potatoes in oil. Simple and well-made, we had a great time.

Then it's time for the main courses. For us, it's the essential Purée-saucisse au couteau at 9.60€ and Blanquette de veau à l'ancienne aux champignons et riz basmati at 12.50€. The purée, which still has bits of potato in it, is homemade, the sausage has real taste and we love its old-fashioned mustard sauce. As for the Blanquette, the veal is well cooked and traditional.

With desserts priced at around 3€ to 4€, you can't go without. We opt for the excellent Tarte Tatin with melting, slightly tart apples, and for the French toast-style Brioche, generously topped with custard and caramel.

At Petit Bouillon Versailles, you won't find a children's menu, but the choice is so wide and so affordable that your children are bound to find something to their liking. Hachis Parmentier, lasagne or mashed sausage with profiteroles and you've got a happy family.

Gourmet, traditional French fare at low prices, this is a real winner for Versailles locals and tourists visiting the Château de Versailles, looking to sample good local cuisine without straying too far from the monument. And all at low prices!
