AEW star Malakai Black is keeping his eye on ONE Championship’s two weekend events, but there is one person he’s most keen to see.

Black, who has an extensive Muay Thai and kickboxing background, recently got in touch with Jonathan Haggerty and he also wished the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion good luck.

Haggerty will make his ONE Championship bantamweight debut when he takes on Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4 this Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The event is free for North American fans with a Prime Video subscription.

The two got to dap it up virtually with a snippet of their conversation getting shared on the ONE on Prime Video 4 vlog.

Malakai Black said:

“Man I wish you all the luck. You already know what you’re gonna do, so do it.”

Haggerty responded with a polite “thank you very much, I appreciate it.”

This wasn’t the first time that Haggerty and Black connected, though. ‘The General' revealed back in May that he and Black (real name Tom Budgen) would usually message each other whenever one of them captured an important win.

Black, too, is an avid fan of ONE Championship. The former WWE star even gave his support to Fabricio Andrade following the no-contest finish in his world title match against John Lineker at ONE on Prime Video 3.

He wrote in the comments section of a ONE Championship Instagram post:

“I feel bad for the dude. Prepped harder than he most likely has ever done. Rematch is going to be a banger."

Malakai Black tells John Haggerty he could be a “pretty good pro wrestler”

Jonathan Haggerty revealed during his conversation with Black that he was a wrestling fan growing up and that he would often provoke the ire of his mother for smashing up pillows in their home.

It was while recounting that nostalgic memory that Haggerty told Malakai Black that they could exchange ideas.

Haggerty said:

“I was a hardcore wrestling fan, my mum used to go mad because I used to smash all the pillows up in the front room because I was wrestling them. You can teach us some moves.”

Black then told Haggerty that they can “absolutely do that” and that the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion has all the capabilities of tearing up the squared circle:

“Well, that’s the other thing right? You wanted me to teach you some wrestling and I will absolutely do that. I think you’d make a pretty good pro wrestler.”
