Continuing the rolling grass and heather covered landforms of the eastern Glenshee hills, Creag nan Gabhar is the most northerly summit, with just enough prominence from Carn an Tuirc to justify its status in the list of Corbetts.

At just over 400m above the A93, a hike up the heather and grass-covered slopes of Creag nan Gabhar makes for a short afternoon's hillwalk.

Compared to the Munros west of Glenshee, the Munros to the east dominated by Glas Maol, are higher, more vast and have less paths or tracks to follow. The route can be extended to include the Corbett Creag nan Gabhar.
