STORY TIME with Yoruba culture

Explore Yoruba culture with a talking drum and the book A is for Adire! Yoruba Cultural Dictionary. The ancestral homeland of the Yorùbá speaking people is located in south western Nigeria. The Yorùbá also inhabit the West African nations of Benin and Togo. Descendants of the Yorùbá can be found in the United States, the Caribbean and South America where some cultural traditions are still followed today.

About Story Time: Tales on Sugar Hill
Grounded in a curatorial mission to share stories through theater, music, dance and visual art, as well as oral and literary forms, Story Times: Tales on Sugar Hill presents tales, fables, histories and myths that genuinely reflect the diverse ethnic and cultural milieu of our surroundings. Held every second Saturday of each month, each presentation includes a participatory art activity facilitated by teaching artists, so children not only experience other’s stories, but also reflect on what they see and hear, and create and share their own stories.
