Hairy Paintbrush, Castilleja pilosa

This Paintbrush species is a root parasite on Sagebrush. It occurs at a wide range of altitude in the Tahoe Basin. At lower elevations it can be found growing in dry meadows with Lupinus breweri, Calochortus leichtlinii, Phlox diffusa and Delphinium nuttallianum.
