Transitions help writers to connect their thoughts. Use the "Transitional Words and Phrases" document for a bright, functional poster in your class. You can also use this document as a handout for student reference.

The categories include: addition, exception and concession, summation and conclusion, comparison and contrast, cause and effect, illustration, & time and order (sequential and chronological).

This is a great resource for writing research papers, stories, argumentative/persuasive essays, and more! It is also helpful for identifying text structures!
