Bricked GTX 1050 GV-N105TOC-4GD - Help

Hi,

I bought a GTX 1050 knowing that it wasn't working and I was hoping to revive it.
I don't think it's fake, but I think that someone has tried loading a dodgy BIOS onto it, and come unstuck.
I have contacted Gigabyte with the serial number, and hopefully they'll send something helpful.

However, if they don't, hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.
I have tried loading in the BIOSes mentioning "GV-N105TOC-4GD", but only loaded on the ones with the same Device ID.

Currently, Windows shows it as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, but I've had it say GTX1050 a couple of times (before Windows crashes saying page fault in non-paged area - nvlddmkm).

Labelling:
GV-N105TOC-4GD rev1.1 SN202401064837
1/BM/KH4802 00785 V17072-2

Using GPU-Z
GPU: GP107 Revision: FF
Technology: 14nm Die Size 132mm
Release Date: Oct 25, 2016 Transistors 3300M
Subvendor: Gigabyte Device ID: 10DE 1C82 - 1458 3763

I am not adverse to loading in an underclocked BIOS (or one with only 2GB RAM) to get this working, but I'd rather not just stab in the dark.

Any ideas?

Post full naked (no cooler) board pic, showing ram chips, and pics of any stickers on it.

If the label is correct, it would be this BIOS here. If the BIOS is crossflashed with another Vendor you might have to use the nvflash -6 flag in order to flash the vbios.

I've just loaded Gigabyte.GTX1050Ti.4096.170623, and it doesn't seem to be any better.

What would the recommended nvidia driver version be, as it could be that that's failing...

If I run in safe mode, I get NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, but I can't check anything with GPU-Z.

After multiple blue screens (with nvlddmkm issues) I am now running out of safe mode, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti appears in Device Manager (although stopped with Code 43).
Regarding within GPU-Z, I am running 30.0.14.9729 (NVIDIA 497.29) DCH.

Interestingly, GPU-Z shows an Unknown BIOS Version (I'm not sure what I should expect here...). Plus I've just read the BIOS back with nvflash and compared it against 170623, and there are differences!

May be a VRAM problem with that stop code, even when that almost always means problem with system RAM.

It was bought as a 1050Ti.

I had already programmed it with the 170623 rom and this did not fix anything?

Do I need to clean the thermal paste off and get a better picture of the chip?

Is there any way for me to test this, either from safe mode without the card loaded or from a command line tool?
