Get ready to go to Green Gables! Anne, Netflix's simply titled adaptation of the beloved classic novel Anne of Green Gables, is almost here.

Netflix released the first trailer for Anne on Tuesday (April 4), and, with its gorgeous landscape and charming red-headed star, it looks like an eight-episode journey into a place we very much want to be.

Anne stars newcomer Amybeth McNulty as the titular Anne Shirley Cuthbert ("please be sure to spell 'Anne' with an 'e,'" she commands), a 13-year-old orphan in 1980s Prince Edward Island who gets a shot at something happier than her abusive and lonely childhood. Her change of fortune occurs when she is mistakenly sent to live with an aging pair of siblings who have requested a boy to assist them. Upon learning of the "mistake," the siblings plan to send Anne back, but Anne resists, proclaiming, "Girls can do anything a boy can do, and more!" (YAS.) Apparently, the argument is effective, because Anne gets to stay and finally finds a place she can call home in the beautiful town of Green Gables. Seriously, Anne, invite us to the neighborhood for a sleepover, please!

The series, which promises to tackle issues, including feminism, bullying, and prejudice, also shows a strong focus on the powerful imagination Anne uses to come through tough times with a sunny attitude. In the trailer, Anne even gets her pigtails pulled, because immature boys haven't changed too much in the past couple of centuries, but Anne still comes out on top. The friendship between Anne and Diana, who lock down their close bond with a good ol' solemn swear, also promises to be a heartwarming highlight.

Anne is riding into Netflix on the horse of her overactive imagination on May 12. Watch the trailer below, and be sure to give your BFF a sob-ridden phone call right after.
