The British brand, formerly helmed by the late great Vivienne Westwood, made The RealReal's list of Gen Z's most coveted luxury fashion brands in 2022, in part because the line is a favorite of style stars like Bella Hadid and K-pop girl groups. Westwood herself got her start in the early '70s punk movement in London and built her brand into a massively successful business, with designs drawing from the 17th and 18th centuries with that signature punk insouciance.
The Vivienne Westwood x Eastpak collection includes seven styles designed for durability and practicality, dressed up in a planetary print that was first used in the Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood spring-summer 2019 runway show.
According to a press release about the collab, the print is inspired by the Saturn return, “which in horoscopic astrology occurs when the planet Saturn returns to the same ecliptic longitude that it occupied at the moment of a person's birth. The planets print, with Saturn in focus, suggests the need for significant change to the treatment of our planet.”
The drop includes the Jessica Bag, which can be used as a tote or backpack thanks to the oversized handles, and Eastpak's iconic Padded Pak'r backpack, which was originally launched in 1976; both are made with recycled polyester. Pack your athletic gear or weekend sleepover essentials in the Tote Bag, Duffel Bag, or go hands-free with the crossbody One mini bag or commute-friendly Satchel. There's also a suitcase version which will be sold exclusively in Vivienne Westwood boutiques.
The Vivienne Westwood x Eastpak collection also supports the Cool Earth initiative, a charity that works to protect endangered rainforests, fight global warming, and more. The collab drops today, August 29, in Europe, and it's estimated to hit Eastpak's U.S. site on September 9, just in time to add a touch of sustainable luxury to your back-to-school wardrobe.
