Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) officials will skip a donor conference in Geneva on Friday, saying the United Nations had exaggerated the number of Congolese people who need aid.

In the eastern Ituri region of the country, unrest between the Hema herders and Lendu farmers has resulted in the loss of many lives as well as forced tens of thousands to flee since the start of the year, Reuters has reported.
About 70,000 people have fled the violence-plagued regions in the east of the country to several makeshift camps in neighboring Uganda, Al Jazeera has stated. According to the report, the Congolese nationals have resettled in the Kyangwali camp.
Some four million Congolese people have reportedly been displaced within DR Congo, according to the United Nations (UN).
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is estimating that 200,000 refugees will resettle in Uganda from Ituri, this year alone.
Other Congolese have already opted to remain in the country at the Mave Grace camp, which is located on the edge of the town of Bunia, where makeshift blue and white tarpaulin tents have been installed to provide refuge from the elements.
President Joseph Kabila has caused unease and uprisings in the country by refusing to demit office at the end of his mandate in 2016.
