Judge Reinhold as Don Meyer.

Actor Judge Reinhold said what he most enjoyed about playing legendary Lipscomb coach Don Meyer in an upcoming movie was trying to portray the far-reaching impact Meyer's coaching had on his players.

Meyer aimed not only to teach basketball techniques, but life skills.

"One of the many inspiring things about playing Don was realizing that everything he taught in basketball was intended as a direct life application," Reinhold said. "For Don, NBA stood for 'next best action'. 'Keep it simple' meant stay in the fundamentals of the game, don't make it complicated."

The movie - "My Many Sons" – was filmed in Nashville this month and is due for release in April 2015.

Reinhold's credits include, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Beverly Hills Cop," "The Santa Clause" and "Ruthless People."

Meyer died last May at age 69 after a six-year battle with cancer.
