Odell Brewing Co’s - Isolation Ale

Odell Brewing's Isolation Ale six pack and bottle.

This beer is Odell’s “classic winter warmer” that was brewed and released this past winter (2021). I originally picked up this beer because I was attracted to the winter packaging and thought it would be good to try a dark winter beer to warm me like a nice sweater.

The first pour showed a great head on the beer. The head maintained throughout drinking and the beer was a great, clear amber color.

I was pleasantly surprised by the bold yet smooth hop flavors. Odell’s website listed that the Isolation Ale was made with Nugget hops at the forefront, giving the beer a classic hop flavor to dance with the dark, dense malts.

Some of the flavors notes included in this beer are caramel, biscuit, and molasses. The caramel was prominent and paired well with the smooth molasses. The biscuit was less noticeable right away but was definitely noticeable in the dry finish.

This beer was available from October through December and is one that I can’t wait to see again next fall.

It pairs well with “cozy fireside conversations” but I wouldn’t mind snacking on a spent grain chocolate chip muffin at the same time.

Cheers,

Mrs. Brew
