MARK WALTERS has revealed he was once sent a sick letter from someone claiming to be in the Ku Klux Klan.
The former Rangers winger experienced shocking levels of racism during his time in Scottish football.
Bananas and money chants rained down on the England international when he made his debut at Celtic Park back in 1988.
And the racial abuse continued when he faced other sides, including Hearts, during his three-and-a-half-year spell with the Light Blues between 1987 and 1991.
But now Walters has revealed that someone once sent him a letter claiming to be a member of the KKK.
It is just one of the experiences of his time in Scottish football he refers to in his new autobiography.
Speaking to STV, he said: "I picked up the mail and I did notice a letter from the Ku Klux Klan.
"Again, I maybe took it too lightly because I laughed it off thinking it was probably some local lad who sent it in.
"I'll never know if it was from the actual authentic Ku Klux Klan.

"But I was so adamant that I was going to keep going that I didn't even show it to the staff or the manager.
"I just ripped it up and threw it in the bin."
Walters enjoyed success at Ibrox, winning three league titles and two League Cups during his time at Rangers.
He left the club in the summer of 1991 to make a return to English football with Liverpool.
