Princess Beatrice’s £250,000 diamond engagement ring is by jeweller Shaun Leane and was designed by fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi to have ‘personal and sentimental signifiers’

PRINCESS Beatrice showed off her sparkling new engagement ring in pictures as she announced she is to marry property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The royal, 31, is wearing a bespoke platinum and diamond engagement ring by British jeweller Shaun Leane, which experts estimate is worth in excess of £250,000.

News of the couple getting engaged was revealed today by the palace, and the wedding set to take place next year.

According to jewellery maker Shaun, Edoardo wanted the ring to be “filled with personal and sentimental signifiers.”

Images were shared by Princess Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie, who tied the knot herself last year.

According to Alexandra Mitchell Gemologist Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn, Princess Beatrice’s 1930s-inspired ring is a fusion of Victorian and Art Deco designs.

She said: “This diamond engagement ring was created with a sizeable three to three and a half carat brilliant stone, thought to be colourless and flawless, and likely set in platinum.

“The centre stone is shouldered by two smaller round brilliants and terminated by double bullet cut diamonds either side.”

It joins a host of breathtaking royal engagement rings that have been given to women in the family.

WHO IS PRINCESS BEATRICE'S FIANCE EDOARDO MAPELLI MOZZI?

The Duke and Duchess of York’s daughter is engaged to be married to property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Mozzi specialises in discreetly finding and developing multi-million pound homes for rich clients.

He also has a two year old son named Wolfie with ex-fiance Dara Huang.

Beatrice, who has not dated anyone else since splitting up from her boyfriend of ten years, American Dave Clark in 2016, met Edo at her sister Eugenie’s wedding last October.

Descended from Italian nobility, Edo is a Count whose father Alex was an Olympic skier in the early 1970s.

Edo has been a family friend of the Yorks for years and when his stepfather Christopher Shale - a close friend of former Prime Minister David Cameron - died in 2011, Andy, Sarah, Bea and Eugenie all went to the funeral.

Princess Eugenie’s ring has a £7,000 coral-coloured padparadscha sapphire, surrounded by diamonds, meanwhile Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s rings have a nod to Princess Diana.

Kate’s £300,000 ring, which belonged to Diana, is a stunning blue jewel surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds, while the setting consists of 18-carat white gold.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry later proposed to Meghan Markle in 2017 using a stone from Botswana and two diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection, with the ring estimated to cost £122,500.

Princess Beatrice has enjoyed an 11-month romance with businessman Edoardo, and they went public in March this year.

Beatrice and Edoardo got together at Eugenie's wedding in October last year, with their families having being friends for decades. She started introducing him to friends as her boyfriend in November.

The 31-year-old gushed she "can't wait" to get married after her 36-year-old boyfriend popped the question in Italy earlier this month.

At the time he was living with his ex-fiancée Dara Huang, who is the mother of his three-year-old child Christopher 'Woolfie' Woolf.

Beatrice - the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's granddaughter - is ninth-in-line to the throne, and a cousin of the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.

Parents Prince Andrew and Fergie today congratulated the couple, which comes after the Duke of York had been embroiled in scandal after his friendship with paedo Jeffrey Epstein.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, the princess and her fiancé said: "We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

"We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to be married.

"We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."
