Shocked family discover mirror in loo was owned by Marie Antoinette and is worth £10k
A FAMILY were stunned to learn a mirror in their loo was owned by the last queen of France and is worth £10,000.
The antique once belonging to Marie Antoinette had been on the downstairs toilet wall for 40 years.
It measures 20ins by 16ins and is thought to have formed part of a larger display in one of Antoinette’s palaces.
The mirror became a feature of the family’s toilet in the 1980s after it was passed down through inheritance.
They learned its value from auctioneer Andrew Stowe.
He said: “To think one of the most famous historical figures looked into this mirror is spellbinding.’’
