His mum, Gina-Ann Riggs, shared the photo yesterday and revealed he is in “a lot of pain”, but fortunately suffered no broken bones.

“The call every mom hopes she never gets,” she captioned the image.

“Thankfully, he’s going to be ok and thankfully I’m here with him!

“He was thrown off of his horse yesterday afternoon. Thank GOODNESS he was wearing a helmet.

“He has a pretty bad concussion and is in a lot of pain but no broken bones!

“Keep him in your prayers!!!”

Chandler put on a brave face and even gave a thumbs up sign as he posed alongside his mum in hospital.

Fans were quick send messages of support to the star, who left the show in 2018.

“Omg I hope he is okay now,” one wrote while another added: “Praying for him. Glad all is okay.”

Chandler was just 10-years-old when he first appeared as Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead.

He played the award-winning role for eight years before Carl, already minus an eye, was killed off halfway through Season 8.

The young actor is currently starring in 'A Million Little Thing' as the enigmatic Patrick 'P.J' Nelson.

Despite leaving The Walking Dead last year, he still keeps tabs on the series, which has been renewed for an 11th season.

“I love the show and I’ve been incredibly impressed by these last couple of seasons and can’t wait to see more,” he previously said.

“It’s so interesting because it’s deviated so far from the comics. I’m an avid fan of the comics, as well, so I just have no idea where the show will go from here.”
