Henry Staunton, the businessman sacked as chairman of the Post Office last month, paints a depressing if illuminating picture of officialdom’s true approach to the Horizon IT scandal. In an interview today, Staunton simply lays out what happened during his time in charge. He claims he was told that the government wanted to “limp into the election” without incurring a huge bill.
