‘Two down, four to go’: Tributes pour in for Monty Python star Terry Jones

The much-loved comic actor has died aged 77, reports Jack Malvern

Terry Jones, the absurdist master craftsman who helped to redefine comedy as part of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, has died at the age of 77.

His death on Tuesday evening, with his family by his side, after suffering a rare form of dementia that robbed him of his speech, prompted his fellow comedians to reflect on their love for a man who had a gift for making others laugh.

John Cleese, 80, one of the six members of the comedy troupe, reflected on the loss on Twitter. “It feels strange that a man of so many talents and such endless enthusiasm, should have faded so gently away,” he wrote. “Two down, four to go.”
