Neil Gaiman reveals ‘slutty’ marriage to Amanda Palmer

He is a bestselling English author. She is an American singer-songwriter with a dedicated cult following.

But Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer also attract a different type of headline for the many stories about the twists and turns of their on-again, off-again open marriage.

In the latest instalment in their unorthodox saga of marital meandering, Palmer reveals today that “we’ve both shattered one another’s hearts occasionally through bad choices, but our relationship stands it”.

In today’s Magazine, the couple take it in turns to describe the stresses that accompany a mutual agreement to abandon monogamy. “We’re not interested in having big, multiple relationships,” says Palmer, 43, a founding member of the punk cabaret duo the Dresden Dolls. “We’re just slutty, but compassionately so.”
