Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo enjoyed a 30-year tenure at Nokia before he was replaced by Stephen Elop in 2010. As President and CEO, he oversaw the company's rise to become the world's preeminent mobile brand — but was also at the helm as Nokia fell distantly behind a new wave of competition from Apple and Android manufacturers. And so he received a handsome severance package and was seen off. As for what Kallasvuo spends his time doing now, the Associated Press reports he's joined Swedish TV software company Zenterio as chairman of the board.

There he plans to establish and promote an interactive TV platform capable of gaining widespread adoption among cable providers, set-top box / TV manufacturers, and others — largely mimicking what Google has sought to accomplish with Google TV. "The market of operating the software for the set-top boxes and TVs is extremely fragmented," he told the AP, noting that Zenterio could potentially reach a market of over 650 million customers. With no clear leader in the race to own the living room, now's as good of a time as any for Kallasvuo to throw his hat in. And more importantly, it gives the executive a chance to prove he can still innovate after being accused of idly standing by as Nokia's empire began to crumble under his leadership.
