They might feel uneasy but they might not be able to express it to their parents or adults in their homes. And if parents can’t understand their problems, they can’t provide their children with the correct treatment. However, it is important that parents and adults in the house keep a check on changes that they see in their children to spot the early symptoms of a disease.
What is leukemia?
Leukemia is a form of blood cancer. This develops when white blood cells don’t mature properly but they continue to reproduce at a rapid rate which then crowds out the healthy cells.
Here take a look at the symptoms of leukemia among children.
  1. Stomach ache: Children suffering from leukemia may complain of stomachache and that is because leukemia cells can get accumulate in the organs causing them to enlarge. Children might also have a poor appetite or they might not be unable to eat a normal amount of food.
  2. Difficulty in breathing: Leukemic cells can clump around the thymus which can then cause difficulty in breathing. Children suffering from leukemia might also cough. They might also have sessions of painful breathing which then is a medical emergency.
  3. Anaemia: When the WBC’s are overproduced, they overcrowd and that makes it difficult to produce enough RBCs. This leads to a condition called anaemia.
