Gas Chromatography，GC 氣相色層分析、氣相層析法
氣相色層分析(Gas Chromatography，GC)-亦可簡稱為氣相層析-是一種分析混合物的方法。層析法中的展開劑若為氣相者，則稱氣相層析法，此法主要用於分析揮發性試料，氣體及固體試料之分離及定量。試料成份在兩相中(如氣一液或氣一固相中) ，由於受到不同的吸附，分配作用乃逐漸彼此分離。
簡單地說，待測混合物先被氣化後，經分離的過程可分成許多單一的成份，待測物中所含揮發性化合物的數目可由圖譜(Chromatogram)中峯的數目來估計，其組成可藉由與標準品比對、或以質譜儀為檢測器來決定。因此經由氣相色層分析可決定待測物的組成份，可得知其為純物質或混合物。氣相層析也可用於定量分析，以決定待測物中各種成分的含量。據估計約 10-20%的物質可用氣相層析來分析，基本上這些物質必須具有揮發性及熱穩定性。
氣相層析為管柱層析(Column chromatography)的一種，必須含二種不互溶之靜相(Stationary phase)及移動相(Mobile phase)才能造成化合物的分離。待測物會依其性質與二相產生作用，使得不同之物質會以不同之比例分佈於二相中並達動態的平衡，分佈於移動相較多之物質較易被移動相帶動，會較早被沖堤出管柱，與靜相的作用較強之物質則滯留於管柱的時間較長，較遲被沖堤出管柱，物質因而被分離開來。在氣相層析中移動相為氣體，靜相則為接著於管柱內側的材質。
