Highlights

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, children all over the world face unprecedented challenges. In some countries, schools have been closed, with many children continuing their education via online lessons. However, in other countries, children’s access to education has been greatly impacted and limited during this time.

In these challenging times, children may have different feelings and reactions. It is important to recognize these differences and not assume that every child copes with the situation in the same way. Various aspects, such as the age factor, level of development, and social environment and level of support also have to be taken into account.

The purpose of this guide is to provide clear and concise information about the psychological impact of emergencies, the principles of providing psychological first aid during emergencies, the age-specific characteristics of issues during crisis situations, and the importance of self-care.
