LOS ANGELES, June 14 (UPI) -- Young and the Restless star Greg Rikaart is a first-time dad.

The 39-year-old actor and husband Robert Sudduth welcomed a son, Montgomery Argo, via surrogate Sunday, the same day Omar Mateen killed 50 people at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla.

"We fight hate, fear, bigotry, homophobia and injustice in the world with love, intellect and enlightenment," Rikaart wrote Monday. "In the truest and most pure definitions of the latter words, it is with full hearts that Rob and I take great pride in introducing our son."

"He was born in Roseville, CA at 5:01pm on 6/12/16," the actor added. "He is light and love and magic. Monte, Rob, myself and Marcela, our trooper of a surrogate, are all doing fantastic."

Rikaart and Sudduth went public with their relationship in 2013 and married in Maui, Hawaii, last May. Sudduth is an actor and writer who has penned episodes of The New Normal, The Crazy Ones and Red Band Society.

Rikaart has played Kevin Fisher on The Young and the Restless since 2003. The actor told Gay Star News in 2015 he hopes his character will come out as gay, pointing out Kevin's "relationships with women have been difficult at best."

"I think it would be a super interesting story to tell," he said. "I think it would be more socially responsible than just bringing on a gay character -- to have someone on the canvas that the audience knows and thinks of as family and takes that [coming out] journey."

The Young and the Restless premiered in 1973 and airs on CBS.
