FFNT would like to invite you for an inspiration lunch discussion with Prof. Nelly Litvak that will take place on 5 March in the UParkhotel between 12.30 and 13:30 hrs.
Nelly Litvak received her PhD in Applied Probability from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2002. She is a professor at the University of Twente and part-time at TU/e. Her research is on large networks such as online social networks and the World Wide Web. She is a successful non-fiction author and a finalist of the Enlightener award for the best popular science book in Russia.
Academic careers are very competitive, and many young women ask themselves: 'Is this something I want to do?', 'am I good enough?', 'wouldn’t my work have more impact outside academia?' It is a pity that so often these doubts discourage people who have great potential and a great heart for science and education.
Recently we saw an astonishing number: 90% of scientists that ever lived, live now! Academia is a large enterprise with lots of place for a wide range of talents, from research and valorization to mentoring and explaining science to the general public. We will discuss how to find your own path to success and make an impact that matters for you most.
