How to plant bulbs, corms and tubers

10 Bulbs (V11748)
5 Bulbs (V11749)

The fragile bulbs should be carefully planted from September to November. Choose a position in full sun. Fritillaria aurea does not tolerate wet conditions but prefers a fertile, free draining soil. These bulbs are susceptible to rotting in wet soils so add plenty of grit prior to planting outdoors. Plant Fritillary bulbs at a depth of 12cm (5”) and 20cm (10”) apart. Water in moderation to settle the soil.
After flowering, Fritillary aurea requires a dry dormant period when the soil should kept barely moist. If grown in containers, bulbs can be moved under cover at this time to keep the soil dry. Allow the foliage to die back naturally before cutting it back to ground level.
