Aceraceae

Acer pseudoplatanus 'Erectum' Acer pseudoplatanus 'Erectum'

Medium-sized to large tree, reaching a height of 25 m. A tree that is very easy to maintain and requires little pruning. Juvenile trees have a columnar shape, but are in maturity growing wider with more spreading branches. The juvenile shoots are light green. The shallowly lobed leaf is larger than of the species and has short, thick leaf stalks with an almost straight leaf base. Flowers are of the species, appearing while the leaf emerges. Abundance of fruit. 'Erectum' was selected in 1955 by the well-known dendrologist Doorenbos. The original tree was planted as a seedling on the Nachtegaalplein in The Hague (NL). It is a good street and avenue tree, well suited for application in cities. Deep rooting with good branching. 'Erectum' demands little from the soil: tolerates wet and cold soils. Wind and sea wind resistant.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2024.
