Jackson, Mississippi, November 20, 1998 --

MCI WorldCom Board of Directors today elected Telefonica Chairman
and CEO Juan Villalonga Navarro to join its 17 member board. In
keeping with the company's policy for all Board members, Mr.
Villalonga's term will be up for renewal at the company's
annual meeting in May.
Mr. Villalonga, 45, was designated Board Member and Chairman of
the Telefsnica Group on June 7, 1996. He previously headed the
activities of Bankers Trust in Spain and Portugal and supervised the
bank's European investments in unlisted companies.

Prior to joining Bankers Trust, Juan Villalonga was Chief
Executive Officer of CS First Boston in Spain. He was previously a
partner at McKinsey & Co., where he was based in the U.S.,
Portugal and Spain, as well as managing the Rome office, during his
nine-year tenure with this consulting firm.

Villalonga is the representative of the Spanish chapter of the
Trilateral Commission, a member of the European Policy Group on the
Information Society and serves on the Carlyle Group4s European
Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Egon Zehnder International
Global Corporate Governance Board and the European Union/Hong Kong
Cooperation Committee.
