Exposition "Sapeurs ! Une histoire des pompiers dans l'Oise"

From September 17, 2023 to June 7, 2024, the Archives départementales de l’Oise present the exhibition SAPEURS! A history of firefighters in Oise. In the collective imagination, firefighters are often depicted with their spears, fighting fires. In reality, however, firefighting accounts for only 8% of the Oise fire department’s missions, which have evolved over time in response to changes in society. The history of the fire department is made up of adaptations and modernizations, but also of traditions that endure and perpetuate the values of this unique corps. Being a firefighter is above all a personal commitment, a gift of self to others, guided by the cardinal values that make up their motto “courage” and “devotion”. The Archives Départementales invite you to delve into the history of these men and women who are an integral part of our daily lives. This new exhibition is also accompanied by a 120-page book with 130 illustrations, on sale at the Archives départementales reception desk or ordered online here. To make the exhibition accessible to all, a FALC (easy-to-read and understand) booklet is available at the entrance to the exhibition room.
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Saturday, March 16, April 13 and May 25, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Free parking – bus line 4, Tilloy or Allende stop.
Site accessible to people with reduced mobility.
