Humboldt County, California
Ferndale is located in Humboldt County on Northern California's Redwood Coast. The county seat is Eureka, a historic city of 27,000 and one of California's major commercial fishing ports located on the shores of Humboldt Bay, the state's second largest natural bay. Eureka is also home to the main campus of College of the Redwoods, the redwoods region's largest community college. On the northern end of the bay is the smaller college city of Arcata, home of Humboldt State University.
