Karisma Kapoor isn't a fan of sweating it out at the gym or trying HIIT classes, so she relies on low-intensity workouts like walking and yoga classes to keep her fit. “I have always endorsed a healthy lifestyle, and it's the simple things that help me be fit,” she confirmed in an interview. A quick scroll through Instagram photos will attest that her method works.

1) Get in a workout whenever (and wherever) you can

A consistent yoga practice can improve metabolism, ramp up immunity and bolster overall health and wellbeing. When you do it often enough, it helps improves mobility, reduces stress, and promises greater strength and flexibility. Kapoor makes it a priority to pen in a yoga session, whether she's at Hyde Park in London, at a hotel in Monaco or at home.

2) Just go for a walk

Kapoor isn't spending hours at the gym. “I don't do anything major, nothing too crazy. If you take a walk in your building or climb the stairs, it's great,” she says. “Walks are important, it is an easy way to get your metabolism up,” she shared. Walking at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week can reduce your risk for coronary heart disease by about 19 per cent. It can also help lower your blood sugar and can help protect the joints, including your knees and hips.

3) Try aerial yoga

If you've been wanting to try aerial yoga, Kapoor will convince you to try it out. It takes yoga to the next level because taking your routine off the ground means that you lose your point of stability, meaning that you'll engage your core. It can be cardio-intensive too, because of how quick you have to move between poses. Plus, it is low-impact, making it safe for everyone to try.

4) Take the time to wind down

Sweating it out is important, but taking the time to get a break day is just as key. “After a long week, I love to indulge myself with a massage, whether it’s foot reflexology or aromatherapy to soothe the senses,” she told Vogue India. Just like traditional massage, reflexology can help to relieve tension in muscles, leading to a quicker recovery time, especially for Kapoor, who walks so much. It can help to temporarily soothe post-workout pain too.

5) Revel in the post-workout glow

The post-workout glow is real, and Kapoor likes to take advantage of it and take photos. When your heart rate goes up, your blood vessels begin to expand to pump more blood around, which floods the skin with oxygen and nutrients and leaves it looking glowy, fresh and bright.
