MxPx & Slick Shoes / Dallas, TX 2.17.17

Friday night took us to one of our favorite areas in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas Texas. I (Tyler) got to relive some of my favorite songs from high school and early college as well as showing the guys in MxPx and Slick Shoes our pedal lineup. I was brought up on a pretty strict diet of punk rock and MxPx has always been one of my faves. I even have the Pokinatcha tattoo on my arm to prove it and the first Slick Shoes ep was the first CD I ever purchased. MxPx played a flawless set as always. Favorites such as My Life Story, Chick Magnet and Punk Rawk Show were played but I really loved singing along with some deep cuts like Let it Happen and Do Your Feet Hurt. And you'd never have even known that Slick Shoes has been off the touring circuit for a while with how well they played. It's possible that Jeremiah has the fastest down strokes I've seen played on stage.

The green room became packed really quick as guys from both bands huddled around to tweak some knobs and ask about what all the pedals do. A couple members from Project 86 and Bryce Avery of The Rocket Summer also stopped by so of course they wanted to play a few riffs too. Favorite pedals of the night were the Contraband Fuzz and Bellwether Delay.

In case you've been living under a rock and haven't heard of Slick Shoes or MxPx and their impressive 25 year legacy, head over to mxpx.com or start going through their catalog on Spotify!
