OPINION:
Barack Obama took to the stage in Glasgow to tell his starry-eyed followers that we, we, we need to cut greenhouse gas emissions by watching what we drive, what we fly, what we consume by way of energy — and by we, of course, he meant thee.
All thee petty peons on the earth who don’t have the same need for personal jets as he.
Obama: still arrogant after all these years. Arrogant, elitist and divisive — and looking for victims to exploit for personal and political gain.
“Stay angry,” he told youth at the climate conference.
“You are right to be frustrated,” he said.
“Folks in my generation have not done enough to deal with a potentially cataclysmic problem that you now stand to inherit,” he said.
The champion of race divides and race card warfare has now turned to generation divides to continue the class warfare the left oh so loves to exploit. Get the youth angry at the older and wiser. The youth do have the best brick-throwing arms. The better to exercise those First Amendment rights, dontcha know.
“I recognize that we are living in a moment when international cooperation has atrophied — in part because of the pandemic, in part because of the rise of nationalism and tribal impulses around the world, in part because of a lack of leadership on America’s part for four years,” he said, in sequential hits at individual fights for individual freedoms, Donald Trump and the Donald Trump whole “America First” approach to presidential leadership.
And specifically to youth climate change activists, Obama said this: “I want you to stay angry. I want you to stay frustrated. Channel that anger, harness that frustration, keep pushing harder and harder for more because that’s what [is] required to meet this challenge.”
Yes. Take it to the streets.
Take it to the businesses.
Take it to the homes.
It’s Maxine Waters all over again — when she called for leftist protesters to “get more confrontational” over Derek Chauvin, when she said people should be “out in the streets screaming” over Donald Trump.
It’s Chuck Schumer all over again — when he threatened that the Supreme Court, on abortion, had made a huge mistake and that certain conservative-leaning justices had “released the whirlwind” and would “pay the price.” To Justice Neil Gorsuch, to Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Schumer said, “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” CNN reported.
It was Joe Biden all over again — when he said, to the unvaccinated of America, “We’ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin.” Make way for the mandates. Make way for the strong-arm.
Or, as Obama would put it, make way for the pen and cellphone.
“We have not done nearly enough to address this [climate] crisis,” Obama said.
That was after he exited the private jet he flew to Glasgow.
That was after rubbing elbows with the officials in the more than 100 other private jets that flew in to Glasgow to preach to the rest of the world the need to stop flying, stop driving, stop using fossil fuels, stop using coal, stop eating red meat, stop this, stop that — to quote Greta Thunberg, to blah, blah, blah, blah.
“Obama touched down at Glasgow Airport in a Bombardier 6000 private jet from Washington,” The Daily Mail wrote.
“Obama was spotted arriving in a small private jet at Edinburgh Airport” for climate speech, The Sun wrote.
Yes, stay angry. That seems good advice, indeed.
