Delphinium staphisagria

Delphinium staphisagria or Lice bane of the family Ranunculaceae is a tall plant (over a metre in height) growing in stony cypress woodland, rocky gorge beds, roadsides and among ruined buildings (the photos above were taken in the ruined village of Aradena) up to an altitude of 800 metres. It flowers from April to June.

Preparations from the seeds have been used since antiquity in the treatment of scabies and for killing head lice.
